JC H2 Maths Tuition
For the past decade, our Co-Founder Mr Ian Ang has been helming the JC H2 Math curriculum in Math Academy. Mr Ian is a high achiever in Mathematics, with a first class honours in Pure Mathematics from NUS. He has attained a perfect raw score of 6 points in his L1R5 at O levels and A’s for H2 and Further Mathematics in A levels.
His weekly lessons are devised to follow the schools’ syllabus closely to bridge learning gaps. Throughout the years of teaching students with various backgrounds, Mr Ian maintains his consistency in providing the latest knowledge into his curated set of materials (tutorials, step-by-step solutions & summaries). Taking into consideration of students’ varied learning pace, every chapter has been broken down into bite-sized segments which are easier for students to absorb. Every segment comes in the systematic order of teaching and forming the foundation for each Math concept, followed by reinforcing proficiency through practice questions and seeking clarifications so on and so forth. Understanding that students have limited time for daily revision, Mr Ian Ang has classified various question types and outlined important answering techniques/keywords for emphasis. To support a well-rounded application of JC Math, the tutorials also include specific brain-twisting questions that our ex-students have shared how useful they were during A’level examinations.
If you’re hesitant in raising your hand for questions, fret not! As our alumnus have shared, during the practice segment, Mr Ian walks around the classroom to offer immediate help. Empathising with students’ overwhelming schedule, Mr Ian has extended his guidance (1-1 Whatsapp) to outside of lesson time to ensure students’ queries are answered promptly.
Sec 3 and 4 Add Maths Tuition
For over 20 years, our Co-Founder and ex-MOE teacher, Ms Jolyn Ang has been leading the Secondary A Math & E Math department in Math Academy. She has amassed great experience in guiding thousands of students to excel during national exams. As Ms Jolyn recognises the significance of foundation building in Math concepts in order to be proficient, she designs her materials and carries out each lesson with this in mind. For all the 19 Chapters in the syllabus, each chapter has been broken down into bite-sized segments with 3-4 focus areas for an easier digestible learning. Ms Jolyn has curated weekly worksheets to facilitate students’ problem solving skills and mastery of each chapter. To top it off, students will be taught crucial answering techniques in order to accurately apply them to different questions in an examination.
Understanding that her students are of smaller ages, she ensures that every class size is kept small to offer close monitoring and guidance for everyone. Her students often share that it’s easy for them to seek clarifications on the spot or via WhatsApp, and the comprehensive online resources (over 2000+ recorded videos) helps them to proceed with learning beyond classroom.
Lower Secondary G3 Maths
At Math Academy, we focus on building the essential foundation for Lower Secondary Mathematics (G3), which is crucial for students to progress smoothly to Upper Secondary and Junior College (JC) levels. We understand that confidence plays a huge role in learning mathematics, therefore our rigorous mathematical training ensures that students are not only strong in the fundamentals but also motivated to learn more and reach their full potential.
With a maximum of 7 students per class, we ensure that every student gets personalised attention. This allows for step-by-step coaching, where students can ask questions and receive the guidance they need to truly understand the material. We emphasise key concepts in topics like Algebra, Geometry and Trigonometry ensuring students are well-prepared for more advanced topics in later years. At Math Academy, our goal goes beyond just teaching math—we aim to make sure students enjoy the learning process. By creating a supportive environment, we encourage students to stay engaged and motivated, helping them develop a genuine interest in math.
